To all businesses and Organizations:

The member of the Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center, Inc. have a goal to raise funds for the construction of an addition to the old Oak Grove school located at 314 Onset, MA. Their mission is to create a Cape Verdean Cultural Center with educational classes as well as a community center for seniors and young adults.

By way of background, many Cape Verdeans began coming to the United States in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Upon arrival they went to work in the Cranberry Bogs and made significant contributions to the industry. Some of their children attended the Oak Grove School, which at that time was a segregated school. The building has tremendous historical significance within the town of Wareham.

We have had substantial support from officials within the town of Wareham. We have applied for and received grants and have had a number of fund raising events throughout the past several years.

We are seeking donations from local businesses for our annual Spectacular Auction Fundraiser. This event will take place at Dudley L. Brown VFW post 2846,4 Gibbs Ball Park Road, in Onset, MA on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 10p.m. In working together you will be making a significant contribution to the residents of the town of Wareham and our organization. We will provide advertising during our event for the local businesses that participate.

We would appreciate any contribution you can make to help us build our cultural center.
